MOT Testing with Christian Cars with optional Terra Clean Service

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) test is designed to test a vehicle's safety and road-worthiness, and also determine its emissions levels. The MOT test is required for most vehicles that are more than three years old and are used on public roads in the UK. Simply put, if you're driving your car on public roads an MOT test is a requirement if you want to continue to do so. Given that, it definitely pays to choose a reliable MOT test vendor that you can trust to do a thorough job. Christian Cars can provide you with exactly what you need to get the job done well. The Christian Cars Bosch-authorized Mobil1 Platinum service centre has a dedicated MOT testing station with fully-trained MOT technicians who are well-trained and highly experienced when it comes to performing these tests on Class 4 vehicles, including both vehicles with petrol engines and with diesel engines.

Thorough testing, with a comprehensive report.

During your vehicle's MOT test our expert testing staff will undertake a comprehensive series of checks over the entire vehicle, including exterior and interior checks, under the bonnet, and under the vehicle itself. The outcome of each of these checks is recorded, and a “pass” or “fail” certificate is issued for the vehicle based on the collective results.

Of course, the testing itself is just one part of completing the MOT test.

To make sure you—as the vehicle's owner—are fully apprised of how your vehicle measures up, your MOT test report also includes “Advisory” items. These are checks that have passed this time around but are skirting the pass-fail line. This allows you to keep an eye on those particular problems so you can take care of them if they do pop up before your next test.

All told, your vehicle is likely to undergo at least 150 individual checks during a MOT test, to ensure it's safe for you to drive, and that it's up to MOT standards.

Important MOT Info

An MOT certificate confirms at the time of the test your car met the minimum road safety and environmental standards required by law. It doesn’t mean your car will remain roadworthy for the following 12 months. You still need to make sure you maintain your car well, including regular servicing.
If your MOT has expired, it’s illegal to drive your car on the road and you could be prosecuted for doing so. Driving without a current MOT also makes your car insurance invalid. The only exception would be if you already had an MOT booked and were driving your car to the test.

What is an MOT?
The MOT scheme is primarily a road safety measure designed to ensure as far as possible that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old. are properly maintained and; at least once a year are examined at an authorised MOT test station to make sure that they comply with certain important requirements of the law M.O.T. Stands for Ministry Of Transport. Remember- the test certificate relates only to the condition of the testable items at the time of the test and should not be regarded as evidence of their condition at any other time; nor should it be accepted as evidence of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle.
When is My Car Eligible for its First MOT?
When it is three years old.
How Long Does it Take to MOT my car?
An MOT test takes approximately 45 minutes.
What Happens if My Vehicle Fails the MOT Test?
Should the vehicle fail, you will be issued with a VT3O Certificate stating the items causing the failure of the MOT test. Make sure that you are clear as to what rectification is required for a pass to be issued. In certain cases expert or special services may be required regarding emissions or welding. There is no set time limit before a retest and it is at the discretion of the individual. Remember - a car that does not have as current MOT Certificate is not allowed to be used on the road except when going for repairs for an MOT test, or to a prearranged MOT test.
Am I notified when my test date is due?
Unlike road tax, where you receive a reminder, the mot test is your responsibility.
I have lost my MOT certificate, what can I do?
You can get a duplicate certificate - The simplest way is to go back to the garage where the vehicle was tested, tell them the approximate date of the test and they should be able to give you a duplicate certificate. The fee is £10.00. If you do not have the details of the garage (i.e. You have just bought the car) The Vehicle Inspectorate (0845 600 5977) may be able to help.
